I just got back from teaching a workshop at a worship arts retreat in Portland. The retreat was for Salvation Army members. I had the opportunity to work directly with 4 painters who all participated in worship on Saturday night. The response was extremely positive and opened a lot of eyes as to how broad the concept of worship could/should be. I will definitely look for you this weekend.

I too am looking forward to meeting other artists. There are lots of opportunities inside and outside of the church to share life and art. I too do both. I recently was the sermon illustration for 5 Christmas Eve services. I did a new painting for each service.. That was a long night of painting... but I would bet, most people will remember the sermon better because of the painting. Lets make sure to meet-up this weekend. Peace, Rich

Comment by Kevin Dobruck on February 24, 2009 at 1:34pm: I think visual art is just now beginning to become more accepted within the church and feel that as artists the doors are opening up for us. As a painter I personally have participated in worship services, gallery showings and even lead workshops on bringing art into the church. I'd love to connect with other artists this weekend and delve deeper into the subject.
